Published by Activision and developed by Vicarious Visions, the cartridge combines two complete standalone handheld titles based on popular DreamWorks animated films into a single cartridge with a built-in game selection menu. Madagascar: Operation Penguin: A side-scrolling platform action game where players control Private, the lowest-ranking member of the Central Park Zoo penguin squad. The gameplay spans 18 missions involving swimming, parachuting, and karate-chopping past obstacles and zoo security to execute an elaborate escape plan. Shrek 2: A puzzle-platformer inspired heavily by retro classics like The Lost Vikings. Players must swap control between Shrek and four of his companion characters—such as Donkey and Gingerbread Man—utilizing each character's unique strengths and abilities to solve environmental hazards and navigate levels.
